I will be recording and releasing my 5th acoustic album in the next month or two. This will be the 5th album in nine or so months. Why? I have really fallen in love with getting my ideas out through just me in the recording studio, and I'm sure as hell not forcing this by any means... As a matter of fact I usually end up with four or five songs I don't record each time I go into the studio.

If you ask yourself why I feel the need to record this much... I'll ask you why you think people record in the first place? Especially in this day and age in the music industry. The reasons warp more and more over the years as to why people create. Alot of them are trying to "make" it. It's a mission of getting pussy and getting famous so they check out what's working in the music scene around them and try to come up with their best version of the flavor of the month and hope it's good enough to get them the keys to the kingdom. Most of these songs sound like the billions of others that get released each year and after a 3-4 year run these cats end up getting someone pregnant and get a dayjob and disappear into the game... Or else they become aging hipsters at local dive bars hoping to trade old war stories with other veterans of the scene.

There was a time long ago... Before colleges turned out music or music business majors by the millions... Before they learned how to turn it into the business it is today... Before moms who use to be soccer mommys took their kids down to local guitar center to pick out guitar straps so they can become the next "rock star" if the lawyer or doctor thing didn't work and go home and watch their kids play guitar hero... There was a time long before that when it was an expression of shit swirling inside and not just background music for MTV Spring Break parties and Lexus commercials. It's an expression, and I have alot to express... Especially since I've had an acoustic since 1995 and haven't started laying that down till last year.

I do take a huge loss on each new free release.... I might as well buy a shitty sports car with the money I "throw away" on this stuff.

But I need to be creative or else I have to stand in the back of parties and listen to dudes on couches talk for hours about the magic they see musicians making on TV or on Myspace, and their own battles plans to break through to the masses. I think after this I'm going to move to Maine and work at Best Buy or Staples. Just happy I got the chance after so long to lay it down the way I wanted to. Or I'll probably put the wig and mustache back on and yell at people for money, or I'll pretend to say nice things about Linkin Park or 311 on the radio to keep that machine going... Oh the options in this day and age.

You fight for the way you want to do it. At this point I only really enjoy the process of creating and performing, the inbetweens where the cock stars excel are more of an annoyance to me. Let's leave on a high note... I LOVE AIR.
